God's Realness in Our Reality

When I'm too serious
When I forget You have a sense of humor
When I forget You're in control
When I'm impatient
When I take You for granted
When I stay up too late spending time with You
When I well up with tears
You are in all this
You are helping me figure it out
You are taking Your rightful place in my life
You are my breath of fresh air
You are my freedom
You truly are my only hope
Thank You for being more real than my tears
Than my tangible computer screen
Than my frustrations
Than the things I don't understand
I am dust, but I go from glory to glory
I am weary, but You are my ever strength
I am selfish, but You teach me how to love
I am quiet, but You help my life to scream
I will love You here in my depression
I will love You here in my confusion
I will love You more
I will love You in brokenness
I will love You in sickness
Oh Glory come down
To our humanness
To our ugliness
Oh Glory come down
To us

I Am A Part of You

My eyes see
My heart understands
These things I know now
I am a part of Your plan
Small but important
Not overlooked, not insignificant
Here goes,

My heart: Full of joy and peace
Leaping from within me
For I am a part of You
I am beginning to see how You move

I see the things You will do
I am settled, I am sure
I am exuberant for these things to concur
And I see it will be okay

I am broken and sad
Torn with wailing tears
I am a part of You grieving for the world
For persons that You love so deeply
Longing for them to see You
These tears spring new life

My hands: For ministering
For loving children
For serving the despised
I am a part of You
Giving graciously without want of return

My voice: Sings a melody
A praise to the God and King
For I am a part of You
I sing and speak the truth
Speaking of light in dark places
Purity where filth has made it's home
Crying and screaming, saying and whispering, believing,
the Power and hope of Jesus Name.

My feet: For going
Following wherever you may lead
Trusting You completely,
Though the full path I do not see
I am a part of You

You are forever
But this world I'll say goodbye to
So worries or money or fear
Or lust or materials or indulgence or pride
Will not have their grip on me, I am set FREE
I will trust in You alone completely
For I am Yours and You are mine
I am on a mission divine
In this world I'll leave behind

I see now, my heart knows
My hands will give graciously
My lips will speak boldly
My feet will follow trustingly
For Heaven is my home.

Things of Old

There were things of old that had been said
Things that dreamers dreamed
The hopeful hoped and for what weepers had wept
They were holy and divine, right and true
Things that were read and read and read
And the glory of God fell
His flames blazed
Huge fumes and unquenchable
We think of wrath but I write of His mercy and love
It blazed from within us
Burning from within us
Sacred and holy things
We were His flaming arrows, fulfilling our calling
The blind had sight again
The lame walked
The sick were well
Receiving the healing in His wings
The lost stumbled and ran and fell into His everlasting arms of love
The bound were set free
Addictions were banished
Waters filled dry lands
The dead rose and dry bones lived
Singing was heard again
Beauty was recognizable
God's glory had fallen
We were astonished
For our dreams were being fulfilled
Even ones we thought just might be too good to be true
It was right
Our hearts knew, our hearts settled
Our hearts had peace
We were here in His glory
It was bigger than us, yet we each played an important role
We began to believe, we began to know, we began to see, we began to hear
In this moment...
The things of old that had been said
Dreams that the dreamers dreamed
Hopes that the hopeful hoped
Cries that the weepers wept
Were Christ's fulfillment in us,
When He is truly crowned our King
